FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW YORK (June 30, 2020) – Eric J. Peterman has joined Sugar Felsenthal Grais & Helsinger LLP as a partner in the firm’s recently opened New York office.  Peterman has more than two decades of structured finance, corporate transaction, and corporate restructuring experience, at two top AmLaw 100 law firms.

Peterman has already integrated very well according to Sugar Felsenthal executive committee member, Jonathan Friedland, who noted that Peterman is working primarily for the firm’s fast-growing roster of private equity clients. “Solid integration of new laterals is at the forefront of the firm’s mind and solid integration begins with solid hiring practices,” said Friedland, who noted that Peterman, “like all of Sugar Felsenthal’s recent lateral recruits, came as a result of a deep preexisting relationship; in Eric’s case, a mutual client introduced us.”

A graduate of Harvard Law School, magna cum laude, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review, Peterman has a well-earned national reputation for his acumen in structuring, negotiating and documenting complex financial and corporate transactions.

“Coming to Sugar Felsenthal has been the best move of my career,” said Peterman, “the energy with which my new partners take on clients’ issues is electric; their intellectual horsepower, tremendous, and the creative and practical lawyering I have already seen is among the best I’ve ever encountered.”

Sugar Felsenthal currently has 27 attorneys in Chicago, two in New York City, and by leveraging long-standing relationships with other exceptional attorneys and the technology it developed over the past several years in connection with opening and running its New York office, plans to expand into several additional markets.

Founded in 1981 as a tax and estate planning boutique, today Sugar Felsenthal serves clients including family offices, private equity firms, hedge funds, venture capital funds, high net worth individuals and the businesses they own, as well as small public companies. The firm provides services in the following areas: corporate and financial transactions; real estate and community development; corporate restructuring, Insolvency, special situations, and bankruptcy; federal income tax planning; estate planning/administration and asset protection; litigation and dispute resolution, and labor and employment.
