Mark S. Melickian authored the opening chapters of A Guide for Nonprofit Organizations: Bankruptcy Issues (2014) published by The Law Project, a project of Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights. The Guide is targeted to nonprofit board members, officers and other non-lawyers to help them understand the implications of bankruptcy proceedings in Illinois nonprofit organizations, and give them a working guide - explaining what is needed to prepare for bankruptcy, outlining the bankruptcy process, identifying key bankruptcy concepts, and highlighting special considerations for nonprofits contemplating bankruptcy. The Guide also identifies and provides an overview of non-bankruptcy dissolution options for nonprofits.
